Splendid Littles
We've all seen the hoards of celebrity kids wearing the infamous striped outfits while cruising the streets of Hollywood with their parents.
From Brooke Burke's daughter Heaven Rain all decked out in a grey swing top and pants while shopping on Rodeo Drive, to Julia Roberts' daughter Hazel wearing a basic pink dress on a trip to the zoo. Celebs love Splendid Littles. And why not? After years of wearing Splendid clothing themselves, it only makes sense that their baby line would be every bit as quality.
The Splendid brand started 20 years ago with Moise Emquies and his quest to make the perfect tee. The owner of a LA boutique asked him to design a tee to go with her collection of women’s designer fashion. After some thorough research into fabric and dyes Moise came up with a rayon cotton short-sleeve scoop neck in three basic colours, black, white and natural. He priced his tees at $120 a piece. The boutique owner couldn’t keep them in stock, Moise realised that he was on to something.
10 years and lots of hard work later, Moise finally landed upon the winning combination of 50% supima cotton (a long staple of luxurious cotton that gives the fabric body) and 50% micro modal, (a new form of rayon that is super soft and absorbs the colours deeply). And so the adult collection would begin.
But then celebs started having babies right and left, poping out little starlings that needed to be clothed in an equally fashionable way. And the company seized on the new oppotunity, knowing that babies needed comfortable and light clothing while moms and dads needed something they could drool over.
And so Splendid Littles were born. Kate Hudson was among the first big fan, clothing Ryder in every single Splendid Littles shirt she could find. Julia Roberts, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Courteney Cox-Arquette, Gwyneth Paltrow, Madonna, and Heidi Klum soon followed. And before you knew it, stripes were a plenty in Tinseltown.
Splendid is stocked in some of the top department stores and boutiques across the globe from Barney’s, Henri Bendel, Scoop and Fred Segal in the States to Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, The Cross, Start and Browns Focus in the UK.
Check them out on at Tutti Bella and Milk Shop.
